What does Landrush mean?

Back to Help

Landrush is a registration phase of newly launched domain extensions. After the Grandfathering and Sunrise phases, which give priority to trademark and brand owners, Landrush allows anyone to apply for a domain name for a price that is usually much higher than the standard registration price. Some registries refer to the Landrush phase as “Early Access Phase”.

The idea behind this phase is that whoever wants a certain domain most, can get it buy paying a premium price. Some domain extensions support an auction process in case there are multiple applicants for one domain name.
